Amy Winehouse Cancels American & Canadian Tour | Ordered To Rest = Rehab

Amy Winehouse In ShortsThe troubles Amy Winehouse has been having are all over the media right now. You can’t open a newspaper in the UK without being faced by the latest news on the singer.

So the news that Winehouse has postponed her US and Canadian tour until 2008 came as no surprise to anyone.

I reported just over a week ago now about Amy’s drink and drugs overdose, and trip to hospital.

And since then, we’ve heard how she’s been in and out of rehab for addiction. Everyone seems to have an opinion on the British singer, and this announcement will only add to that.

Amy Winehouse’s publicist Tracy Miller said in a statement:-

“Due to the rigours involved in touring, Amy Winehouse has been advised to postpone her upcoming September US and Canadian tour dates.”

“Amy’s European and UK tour dates in October and November remain in place. Plans are being made to reschedule her US tour for early 2008. Until then, Amy has been ordered to rest and is working with medical professionals to address her health.”

Yeah, it’s called rehab love, give it the right name, don’t beat around the bush.

It’s not yet clear whether Winehouse will still appear at the MTV Video Music Awards on September 9th in Las Vegas or not.

What with Lily Allen’s recent visa troubles, it’s not been a good month for British singers hoping to take their music over to America.

    Sorry… I think she’s just flat out disgusting. Her appearance is “dirty” and screams “heroin addict” to me. And no, I don’t even like her “music”…

    You’re entitled to your opinion Lara, I agree she does look a state at times, but then she IS an addict so what do we expect?

    As for her music, have you not listened to the Back To Black album? It rocks!

    Not sure - I just know that much of the adoration I hear from fans of hers is in regards to her lyrics moreso than the music or her voice.

    Who knows… she could be a modern day British Janis Joplin… who will wind up underappreciated until an overdose takes her away.

    Then again, people used to complain about Janis and the way she looked, smelled, and behaved too. LOL

    I really didn’t know there were so many people who had strong negative feelings toward her until reading comments here are your blog, Dave! Plenty of great and not-great musicians have addictions or act erractically. I’m not sure what’s so shocking about this particular one.

    But I am wishing Amy Winehouse well and I hope she sticks around to create some more great albums.

    Emma - it’s not about her addictions or erratic behavior (I was referring to Janis Joplin vomiting all over the stage every time she got up to perform and pissing herself while singing). It’s plain and simple that I don’t like Amy’s voice or her appearance. I think she LOOKS dirty, unclean, and degenerate. I think her voice is akin to Macy Gray on helium. I just don’t like her…

    I could care less about what she chooses to do in her personal life, as a) it doesn’t affect me personally, and b) fortunately there aren’t any teenage girls looking up to her.
