Amy Winehouse Is Suicidal | Refusing Rehab Even After Drugs Collapse
Amy Winehouse seems to be on the verge of mental and physical meltdown at the moment. On Wednesday she was rushed to hospital after allegedly suffering from a drugs overdose, although her record company Island claim it was “severe exhaustion”. Regardless of the reasons, it’s claimed she was taken to London’s University College Hospital in a semi conscious state by her husband Blake Fielder-Civil.
Although she’s now been discharged, The Sun newspaper claim that during the hospital trip she had her stomach pumped and was given an emergency adrenaline shot. The cause of the collapse? Again, The Sun claim to know the truth.
She took ecstasy, cocaine and horse tranquilliser ketamine during a pub crawl across London — washed down with vodka and whisky.
Her husband Blake Fielder-Civil and a female pal took her to A&E when she started foaming at the mouth and fitting.
Now they are also claiming she may have smoked heroin on the night of the collapse. Anyone who does that combination of vices is going to end up in a bad place, so what is Amy thinking?
Winehouse is now said to be staying in a hotel in Hampshire, where she has been visited by doctors and a psychiatrist. Since the overdose, she is said to have barely eaten, been sick all the time, and contemplating thoughts of suicide. But a family friend told The Sun “Amy is determined that she will NOT go to rehab.”
Right, come on Amy, get yourself sorted out. We all like a drink now and then, and the odd dalliance with drugs is pretty accepted in this day and age. But, when you start mixing a huge array of drink and drugs in one session, you are pretty much laying yourself open to death, and it seems you came quite close the other night.
I can’t understand the logic, as Amy Winehouse’s career is pretty much peaking right now, with huge successes around the world, including America, the country so many British musicians try to conquer and fail miserably. Maybe that’s the problem?
A girl who already seemed to have an addictive personality is suddenly thrust in to the limelight, and has media attention shone on her 24 hours a day. It can get too much for some. And as has been the curse of so many artists over the last 50 years, you can now afford to spend as much as you like on whatever quick thrills take your fancy.
But Amy, you’re not invincible, or superhuman, and you obviously need help. None of us will hold it against you if you do actually go to rehab. Just do it, and start being the shining light of the British Music Scene once again.

I don’t get Amy Winehouse and I really don’t get her voice. I can’t understand why she is big, but I’ll get over that, there is a lot of music around that I can’t stand.
However, in no way do I think anyone could describe her as a shining light of anything. Sure, she has blasted onto the scene, only to start missing gigs, getting drunk/high (or whatever) at gigs and finally overdosing and falling apart now. This is not and has never been the behaviour of a “shining light”. The quicker this “star” fades the better.

Phil, that’s harsh! I say she’s a shining light because love or hate her she is flying the flag for Britain at the moment.
How many artists go over to the States and come back with their tail between their legs? Robbie Williams has tried and failed to break America countless times.
Amy Winehouse is suceeding there so she deserves some praise for that.

Dave, you tagged this post with words including Cocaine, Drugs, Ecstasy, Hospital, Ketamine, Overdose and Rehab. Any “flag flying” by someone who attracts posts about suicide and drugs with those related tags is not a shining example of Britain and should not be referred to as so.
OK, her performance world wide is impressive in terms of musical success (which I still don’t understand), but perhaps someone in her position needs some harsh treatment rather than the gentle understanding you seem to be offering, in order that she understands her limits and the limits of her behaviour.

Phil, I can see your point, and I wish she would sort herself out.
Her off stage behaviour is not being a shining light of Britain, but her on stage performances and talent is.
I’ve tried to implore her to get treatment, but it’s not my job to be harsh with her. If her husband, family and friends see fit to force her in to getting sorted out, then that’s their prerogative.

She seams to have come from a normal back ground I guess she took a wrong turn along the way. She certainly has a craft for song writing and entertaining with her vibe and trend setting style for such a young person. Hopefully she learns something from this and she heals for herself and for her loved ones. She needs to clean herself up for her public too but she must keep her mojo. Well… I don’t know much of Amy Winehouse. I have just discovered her music not to long ago… and then I just found out that she is doing all these drugs… well I’m just going to say that she really has such a beautiful voice and is very talented… but she kind of really is messed up… but i know a lot about drugs, I’m not going to say how I do but I do, and you guys just can’t really blame her it really is hard for a person to get off drugs. You would think it is easy but it really isn’t. Something in her life really is going to have to make her open her eyes and relize what she is doing. She probly realy loves the feeling of getting high and parting and drinking and probly thinks since she is successful the way she is and thinks she doesn’t need to change. She’s making all of this money and her songs are still a hit and people still love her… She’s probly not trying to kill herself but get a better high… because after the same old high all the time it kind of gets boring…. For those who think people are stupid for doing drugs alright I can see why you would think that….but most people do drugs mostly to have fun i don’t think Amy is trying to kill her self but just have fun… and i know there are other ways to have fun but honestly nothing can beat a good high… but yes there are consequenses for thoses who choose to do drugs and obviously everyone has been told those consequences and so obviously those who do drugs know whats happening to themselves but they can’t quit because of the pleasure of the highs they get why would they want to quit when they know they might die eventually so why not have fun at the moment and live your life to have fun… especially since you have all this unlimited amount of money or even if you know their is a way of getting money so you know you can get money so do… say if you rob a store just to use that money for drugs obviously you should know the consequences yet you still do it. Why? because the adreneline of it and the fact that once your high you know you’ll feel really good and probly forget all about the robbery and you’ll be very happy and having so much fun. And what she has achieved so far with regards to fame: Britain, America, Asia who the hell cares is nothing compared to her health. Fame won’t help her to recover from an OD or any other damage she has done to herself or her voice!

I am not a kill-joy and I wish that people would not rush to judge me as you seem to have done. I positively encourage anyone to enjoy themselves to the full just as I do.
My criticism is aimed entirely at the addicts who resort to criminal activities in their quest to feed their disgusting habit. If you think that it is Ok to do this then you are entitled to your opinion. The vast majority of victims who have suffered violence at the hands of these mindless idiots will not agree with you. The thousands of people including innocent children, who have unwittingly punctured their skin on discarded needles and now living in fear of their lives, will not agree with you, and there I rest my case.

Jim, agree with you, my point was on being rude with the other poster on here. Believe me I know about what they are doing to themselves. I live in a country where on a daily basis in a local and national newspaper we have kids, adults, homeless etc dying of a horrible drug that has been around for about 10 year and we do not know how to stop this. It is worse than heroin etc. Every night we have high people walking around stabbing, stealing, and hurting other people to maintain their addiction. I have seen many of my very close friends taking my personal possessions to feed this horrible addiction. At the end of the day it is each one individual decision to do what they are doing, and if you make the choice to rip your life of joy and happiness in a sober way and start with criminal activity then you have to suffer the consequences. I just feel that you should not tell anyone they do not have an intelligent cell to be part of the conversation, as you do not have the right to judge anyone else…..:)
They are all intelligent enough to know what they are doing is wrong. And the moment you realise what you doing is wrong you will either be close to you coffin, rehab or prison!!!!
I respect your feelings in this regards and after opening a magazine this morning and seeing another picture of Amy with regards to her health and skin condition, I feel so sad!
How can someone with so much talent, looks (before her bad habits) fame etc do all these bad things to herself. I am sure she knows what she is doing is wrong……
Anyway, what help can we be besides being a fan and hoping that soon she will come to her senses and start cleaning up?

Before you judge…
Drug abuse and alcoholism are horrible, degrading diseases. Addiction is complicated.
Amy Winehouse doesn’t owe you any justification for the things she does, she just needs to keep on making her classy music.
Before you criticise, maybe consider what she goes through and has been through, and put yourself in her shoes for a day. With great talent comes great burden.

If you think about it, she must be under a lot of pressure at the moment and it is totaly her choice if she thinks she should go to Rehab or not.

I just really hope that as she gets older she will start to notice the things that the drugs are doing to her body and try to stop…

I’m certain that each individual is beautiful in one way or another…that is the way God created us, remember? In His image. So, to say someone is ugly is to say the image of God is ugly. We all possess some type of unique talent. Some kind of beauty. Far from perfection each of us stands, longing for it. Although, we are not yet perfect…no one is, we each have both, something to learn, and something to teach one another. That is beauty beyond our understanding unless we choose to embrace it.
