Amy Winehouse & Pete Doherty Slammed By Status Quo Rock Relic Francis Rossi

Rock dinosaur Francis Rossi, lead singer of veteran British rockers Status Quo has slammed Amy Winehouse and Pete Doherty in a newspaper interview.

Status Quo are more famous these days as the band that Radio 1 refuse to give any airtime to than any big hits.

So maybe this latest berating of two of the biggest British talents is more to do about getting noticed again than any real feelings on the matter.

He gave the Daily Record his opinions of Amy Winehouse:

“Amy is supposed to be great but I can’t stick her. I like a couple of records but I’m not sure if people will like her in three years.”

“I’m not knocking her for the sake of it. But I have been subjected to so much of Amy and her antics that I just think, ‘F*** off’.”

“What message does giving her Woman Of The Year send to young people? There has to be some responsibility somewhere, surely?”

“She may be able to sing, but what gets through to the kids in the street is the fact that she is out of her tree, falling over and not being able to keep her hands out of her knickers.”

I do have some sympathy for what he;s saying there, her private life antics are definitely starting to take away from her music career, but still, Francis, just shut up.

Pete Doherty fared even worse, as Rossi told the Daily Record:

“Doherty, on the other hand, isn’t even worth entertaining. At least Amy has serious talent. Pete hasn’t got anything.”

“There’s no talent there, otherwise he would do something. He doesn’t count. He seems quite intelligent but the records are grim.”

Status Quo wouldn’t happen to have a record out at the moment would they? Oh yeah, ‘In Search Of The Fourth Chord’ came out last month and is only sitting at number 15 in the UK album charts.

That might possibly have something to do with this sudden interest in espousing your views on all and sundry in the music industry eh Francis.

To counter the fact I’ve probably helped garner publicity for the band and the album through writing this post I’ll just say three words to all my readers: Don’t Buy It!
