Amy Winehouse Waxwork Unveiled In London | Alice Cooper Gives Her Advice
Amy Winehouse is the latest celebrity to be immortalised in wax at Madame Tussauds in London. While she wasn’t present to see herself uncovered in public for the first time, her parents Mitch and Janis were.
They were so taken with the model, they expressed an interest in taking it home to replace the real Amy, beset by drink, drugs, relationship, and health problems in recent months.
The model is an incredible likeness, and it was all done without Winehouse modelling live for the recreation even once. Instead, the artists worked from pictures of her, complete with heavy make-up, and beehive hairdo. Let’s be honest, the modellers would have had a wealth of photos to work from, as not a day goes by when Amy isn’t in the newspapers.
However, from the pictures of the waxwork in The Mirror, there seems to be a distinct lack of scabs, scars, spots, and blemishes… and there’s not a trace of white stuff coming from her nose.
Her father Mitch, joked:
“We’re going to take this one home with us and take the real one back. This one does what she’s told and doesn’t move.”
He also spoke about the controversy surrounding the waxwork, with many being upset that a model has been made of someone who though the use of drugs, is hardly a role model for kids. He said:
“I would hope that as time goes by she’s being a positive influence, showing how these problems can be overcome. So perhaps she can go from being a negative influence to a positive one.”
While all this was going on, rock legend Alice Cooper was giving his opinion on Winehouse, her talent, and her substance abuse. Cooper was an alcoholic until the age of 40, when he turned his personal life around, and came out fighting. He told the Daily Star about his hopes that Winehouse will be able to do the same.
“Honestly Amy’s too talented to be messing around like that.”
“At some point she’s gotta take a step back and say: ‘Am I gonna live or die?’ She’s got a long career, if she wants it. But I’m not her dad.”
Cooper, along with other legendary rockers such as Ozzy Osbourne, is proof that you can get clean, no matter how far down in the hellish pits of abuse you may be. Hopefully, Winehouse will listen to this rock sage’s advice, and turn her life around in a similar manner. And if she doesn’t, then at least we’ll have a waxwork to remember her by.
