Coldplay Cover The Pretenders ‘2000 Miles’ For Christmas On Official Website
Coldplay have placed a cover of The Pretenders Christmas song 2000 Miles on their official website.
It was actually recorded in 2003, and you can hear the amateur, untrained nature of Chris Martin’s voice coming through very well.
The reason the band give for posting this cover?
Because they can’t ever manage to write their own Christmas song, without it sounding naff, even though they’ve attempted it a few times.
Writing on their website, Chris Martin said:
“We love Christmas songs, but every time we try and write one it’s awful. So we cover them. Well once or twice actually.”
“In fact the one song I would most liked to have written is ‘Fairytale of New York’ by de bloody Pogues of Ireland.”
You can visit their official website and hear the song for yourself, maybe to get you in the mood for Christmas, or maybe to just remind you how brilliant Coldplay are, even when they’re not really trying.

I love this song! They did it very well and I think it’s a great christmas song!
They should try with another song.
