Fergie Compares Herself To Princess Diana | Black Eyed Peas Singer Is Dead Royal?

by Dave Parrack on January 15th, 2008

Fergie Compares Herself To Princess DianaPrincess Diana was a member of the British royal family, and loved and adored by millions of people around the world. She also evoked strong emotions when she was tragically killed in a Paris car crash ten years ago.

I know you already know all that but I thought it was important as a point of reference for the actual meat of this story.

Fergie, the Black Eyed Peas singer, not the other failed princess, has compared herself to Diana.

The reason? Well, apparently the fact she isn’t afraid to publicly display her flaws (as Diana famously did on numerous occasions) has made her the people’s artist.

She told Blender magazine:

“People put celebrities on a pedestal and act like they’re perfect. But I’m more like the people’s artist - the same way Diana was ‘the people’s princess’.

“I’m a little more human than other artists. I’m not afraid to show my flaws and have a laugh about it.”

Yeah, whatever love. You may be a talented singer, but don’t go around comparing yourself to dead royals, that’s just not cricket.

Whether this is something she had thought about before hand, or just an off the cuff remark is unknown, but still, get a grip of yourself, and stop saying such dumb things in interviews. You’re not doing yourself any favours!

Actually, I don’t agree with you even half-heartedly. I think she made a very good point. In the U. S., we comfortably compare Obama to Kennedy, and it would be absurd for someone to say that is wrong. It is a very good way to remember people, by comparing the people of today to the excellent qualities of the people who brightened yesterday, and gave us hope.

Otherwise, I like your writing voice. As a journalist, it makes things very interesting to read people’s personal opinions. BTW, you have been stumbled!
