Harry Potter aka Daniel Radcliffe Reveals His Musical Tastes
I bet Daniel Radcliffe hates that title, he’s now known as Harry Potter more so than Dan, or Mr Radcliffe, which must suck. Although I’m sure the many millions of dollars he’s earnt from the films will more than make up for it. Anyway, I’m rambling, Daniel Radcliffe, the ACTOR who plays Harry Potter on screen (is that better?) recently gave an interview to Details magazine, in which he revealed his musical loves.
His favourite group are Dun dun dunnnnnnn, The Hold Steady, who he describes as “The best band this year by far“. The Hold Steady are an American band from Brooklyn, who are currently over here in the UK on tour. They also played at the Glastonbury festival last month and recently rocked the NME canteen in a mini gig to celebrate 10 years of Uncut magazine. Good choice Daniel, but you could have kept it British!
But we know he is a big fan of British music, and Indie in particular, as during an interview with NME in 2004, he stated that Bloc Party, Art Brut, The Others, and The Cribs were all favourites of his. Good man, that’s more like it, funnily enough they’re all favourites of mine too.
He also revealed that his lifetime ambition was for The Libertines to sing him happy birthday. Well, the fact that they’ve split up and Pete Doherty is a big crackhead now may impinge on that wish I’m afraid. But Pete and Carl Barat did have a mini reunion when they sang ‘Can’t Stand Me Now’ at London’s Hackney Empire in April so you never know.
And why am I telling you this information about Harry Potter now? Why of course, today is the day that the seventh and final book is out, and I need the traffic! As you are reading this, I’m probably tucked up in bed reading my copy of The Deathly Hallows, that is of course if my postman turned up on time.
