Is Amy Winehouse Racist Or Just High? Blake Fielder-Civil Filmed Video Evidence
We already knew Amy Winehouse was a drug addict, but until now, I never suspected her to be racist, and to be honest, despite video evidence to the contrary, I still don’t believe she is. However, it doesn’t look good, and this latest controversy is sure to offend many.
The story appeared in yesterday’s News Of The World, who managed to obtain the video footage, filmed by Blake Fielder-Civil, from a former friend who apparently now wants to do the dirty on Winehouse, and potentially ruin her career, as well as pictures showing Winehouse with various pieces of drug paraphernalia.
The video shows Winehouse and a pal singing the nursery rhyme Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes. However, they replace the usual words with racist terms, which I won’t print here, but you can see for yourself in the video embedded after the break.
The video also shows Winehouse seemingly off her head asleep on the sofa, as well as drug paraphernalia strewn around the room, including silver foil and a home-made crack pipe. While this is in itself a terrible display, it does maybe explain (but not excuse) the racist song.
If she was off her face on drugs at the time it was recorded (May 2007), then a bit of egging on from Fielder-Civil, currently in prison facing charges of GBH and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, would no doubt have lead to her doing something stupid, and completely out of character.
Winehouse has now apologised, sort of, for the video, telling reporters outside her home today:
“I don’t want to play anything down, but I’m the least racist person going. I think they should have starred out certain words.”
There is no excuse for racism under any circumstances, but Winehouse was clearly non compos mentis at the time. I wonder how many fans she’ll lose over this latest display of idiocy?

I reckon this is sensationalism of the highest order, Dave (on the NOTW’s part obviously). Wasn’t she also pictured recently with her Goddaughter who just happens to be black?
I just think there’s maybe a little more to this story than a simple “Racist Amy” headline - The Sun and NOTW have been trying to destroy Winehouse for months now. I’m not saying she’s blameless, but nothing she does is private anymore.
