Jimmy Page Hints At Led Zeppelin World Tour Again & Blames Robert Plant Yet Again

by User ImageDave Parrack on June 18th, 2008

Jimmy Page and Robert Plant Rocking On StageThese Led Zeppelin rumours are getting beyond a joke now. It seems not a week goes by when one of the band are asked about the possibility of the full world tour happening, and without failure they always give the journalists what they want. No, not world exclusive confirmation that it’s on, but little hints to keep the speculation fire burning.

Robert Plant is very quiet on all of the press coverage that his little band are getting, mainly because he’s currently on tour with country singer Alison Krauss, and also because he’s the only one thought to be against the idea of a massive around-the-world tour for Led Zep.

No such silences from Jason Bonham, who recently said he had his fingers crossed for a world tour and would do it in an instant, or John-Paul Jones and Jimmy Page who seem to be sticking together in the resolute belief that it would be a great thing to do.

Page has been particularly vocal about his wishes for the tour to take place, and has also been clear in blaming Plant for the fact that nothing has yet been agreed. In his latest little aside to the press at the Mojo Awards, he answered a question about the band winning Best Live Act for their one-off London 02 Arena show last year by saying:

“I hope fans can vote for Led Zeppelin live awards in the future.”

“You’ve got to have all four members and Robert Plant is out on the road [right now]. I’m not gonna persuade Robert to do anything. You come together through the goodness of your heart.”

He’s obviously up for it, and he’s obviously annoyed that Plant is refusing to sanction the tour going ahead. They’ve obviously been friends for a long time, but I took the comments about Plant to be quite snidey.

As a commenter on NME said:

“No, Jimmy. You’re not going to persuade Robert to do anything. You’re just going to mention that he’s the reason the tour might not happen every goddamn day in the press so the fans know it would happen if not for Percy. You’re doing this through the goodness of your heart, of course.”

You can just feel the animosity brewing in the air between the pair. The thing is that Led Zeppelin won’t tour unless all four agree to do it, and so all the while Plant says no, we’ll have to just wait and hope. I wouldn’t want to go and see the band without Plant there anyway as Page’s solos would drag on a bit without any vocal interruption.

Talk about twisting things out of context. Did you even watch the BBC clip? The more people say rubbish like your article the less chance it will happen. Instead of bashing Robert why don’t you just wait and see…except that wouldn’t sell your crap ass journalism!
