Led Zeppelin Back Catalogue To Be Made Available To Download Online

by Dave Parrack on October 16th, 2007

Led Zeppelin have finally decided to join the 21st Century and are to make their full back catalogue available online for the first time.

The band’s albums have been unavailable to download until now, but come November 13th, fans will be able to download the whole lot from services such as iTunes.

Led Zeppelin Back Catalogue To Be Made Available Online

Like The Beatles, the legendary British rock band have not previously agreed to allow their music to be made available for digital purchase, but since they’ve reformed for their one off gig at the London 02 Arena next month, they’ve changed that decision.

Jimmy Page said:

“We are pleased that the complete Led Zeppelin catalogue will now be available digitally. The addition of the digital option will better enable fans to obtain their music in whichever manner they prefer.”

My guess is that they’ve realised just how much demand there is for their music, and realise they are losing out on a big chunk of the market, and a pile of cash to boot.

Further proof that this decision is money oriented is the fact that Led Zeppelin tunes will also now be available as mobile phone ring tones, thanks to a new partnership with communications firm Verizon Wireless. This isn’t such good news as I can see Stairway To Heaven becoming very boring very quickly if I keep hearing it on the bus every day.
