Led Zeppelin To Join Foo Fighters On Stage At Wembley Over The Weekend?
Dave Grohl is a massive fan of Led Zeppelin, and I mean massive. He is rumoured to have been inspired by them as a kid, and as the drummer in legendary Grunge rockers Nirvana, and founding member and front man of the Foo Fighters, he knows his music.
Grohl attended the Led Zeppelin reunion concert at the London 02 Arena last year and is said to have been absolutely ecstatic at having finally got the chance to see his idols. However, he wanted more, and soon after that came reports that he wanted to drum for the band if they ever embarked on a full world tour.
While that may never happen, especially if Robert Plant keeps up his insistence that a world tour will not be happening, it seems Grohl does hold some sway over the members of Led Zeppelin, as rumours are flying that they may appear on stage with the Foos at one of their Wembley Stadium shows over the weekend.
The Daily Star today reported a source as having said:
“He had the night of his life seeing Zep performing together after all these years and was really keen to be involved with them somehow.”
“It didn’t come off for him to play with them at the time so he suggested they might like to come and do something at a Foos date. Robert Plant is doing his own stuff in the States.”
“But Dave has been talking to other members of Zep and they will play three of their own songs with the Foos and see how things go. It’s going to be mega.”
So no Robert Plant, but Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham could well be showing up for one of the Foos gigs, and no doubt make Grohl’s day, no scrub that, year.
At this point, this is still a rumour, but obviously if it happens, it’ll be massive news and the fans present will be in heaven at one of the collaborations of the century. Hopefully this will open the door for a bigger collaboration with Grohl maybe getting his wish to drum for Led at least once.
