Mandy Moore Covers Rihanna | As If One ‘Umbrella’ Wasn’t Enough
We’ve finally, after weeks of trying, got rid of Rihanna from number 1 in the UK Singles charts. But not before she drilled that bloody ‘Umbrella’ song in to each and every one of our heads, whether we wanted it there or not.
For about 3 months, I had to endure hearing the song twice an hour on the radio, on MTV every 5 minutes, and in every shop, or restaurant I went in. And now, Mandy Moore has decided to cover it!
Reading about it on fellow b5 music channel blog Earsucker, my heart sunk as I realised it was true. Now don’t get me wrong, ‘Umbrella’ isn’t a bad song, it’s catchy, innovative, and Rihanna has a good voice, but I got sick of it after a few weeks of constant airplay.
Was there a secret message included in the lyrics which the governments around the world wanted to feed our collective subconscious? Surely, that’s the only explanation for the amount of times we had to listen to it.
Mandy Moore isn’t big over here, I know of her but that’s about it, so here’s hoping she never releases that god awful cover this side of the pond. Why do it though? Cover a long lost classic record yeah, but not a song which everyone knows every word to, and has only just disappeared out of the charts.
If you really want to hear the cover, go to Earsucker’s article on it, as I am refusing to air it and dirty this page.

Hey, thanks for the link love!! I’m not an entirely big fan of Mandy Moore’s music, but I’ll take this version of the song as opposed to Rihanna’s. That’s only because I’ve heard hers so much that she’s been banned from my iPod.
