Radiohead Reveal Artwork For ‘In Rainbows’ Physical CD Release… Shut Up Lily Allen
At the beginning of October, Radiohead rocked the music industry by offering their new album ‘In Rainbows’ as a download only, and allowing the fans to pay what they wanted for it. If that meant 10p then so be it, although most people tended to pay more like £4 for it.
Now they have announced that the album will be getting a physical release through XL Recordings on New Years Day 2008, and have released the artwork which will go on the cover.
So now you can see what the album will look like sitting on your shelf or on top of that big pile of CDs you never play any more since buying an mp3 player.

It’s a bit weird to say the least, and can I suggest a bit amateurish?! I suppose it is in keeping with the experimental nature of the album, both in content and delivery.
The first single to be released from the album will follow the traditional release, with ‘Jigsaw Falling Into Place’ available in shops from January 14th.
Meanwhile Mike over at Big Apple Music Scene has chosen to defend Radiohead after Lily Allen claimed that their little experiment is harming smaller bands chances of making money.
As he says, the music industry is changing, with the Internet and digital downloads becoming vastly more important to fans and artists alike. So Lily, as much as I love you, put a sock in it for once.

With the future of music being corralled in the direction of downloads and digital music, artwork for albums needs to evolve as well. I like what Radiohead did here though with releasing the box set - I own one, and it’s brilliant. The artwork coincides with the music spot on. It speaks volumes as to what Radiohead has done for music, art and the same over the past 10 years. I think you will see a lot more bands follow in their footsteps.
