Robert Plant Turns Down £100 Million For Led Zeppelin World Tour… Maybe
This is still just a rumour, being reported in a British newspaper, and not announced through official channels, but if its true, it signals the end for Led Zeppelin, and any hopes for a full world tour.
According to the Sunday Mirror, who got their information from “a band source”, whatever that means, Robert Plant has turned down to the offer to tour one last time with the surviving members of Led Zeppelin, despite being offered £100 million to do so.

His reason? He wants to concentrate on his current partnership with American country singer Allison Kraus (pictured with Plant, above). As well as that collaboration might be going, is it really worth shunning the millions of fans who would give their right testicle to see the legendary British rockers play live one last time?
Last December saw Plant, along with Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and John Bonham’s son Jason perform at the 02 Arena in London, in front of 16,000 people. The one off concert was a triumph, but now seems to be the final chapter in the Led Zeppelin book of rock ‘n’ roll.
The band were reportedly offered £100 million each for a tour of North America and Europe. While Page and Jones were keen to proceed, Plant gave a big fat no, and punctured the hopes of millions of loyal fans keen to see the Zep return.
The so called band source, told the Sunday Mirror:
“Despite the enormous offer, the decision did not come down to money. They always said they would do the one-off show and then see how they felt.
“Jimmy had enjoyed the concert in December enough to want to tour. He argued they still had something to offer. He likes the idea of another chapter in the band - the grown-up tour.
“John sided with Jimmy. He loved making music with the others again. But Robert wanted to leave last year’s concert as their legacy. They had proved they could still do it and that was enough.
“He has other commitments and is happier looking forward to those. Robert put the mockers on the tour.”
IF this is true, and I reiterate the if, this is truly a bad decision, and sad day for me and other fans around the world who have been keeping fingers and toes crossed for news of a full tour since December.
It’s not that I blame Plant, as with an estimated fortune of £70 million already in the bank, there’s only limited reasons for doing it. I’m just disappointed, and I’m sure I’m not the only one.

I would rather think that someday I’ll look back and regret all the things that I’ve done wrong than regret the things that I could have done, but didn’t do.
Can anyone please put this in Robert Plant’s mind?
I really think that this is not only a Plant’s choice to make. If I had the chance to do something great for billions of people and make so many people’s dream come true, I would easily leave my point of view behind, for the best of them all.
