Spice Girls Never To Tour Again - Hoorah!
Okay that’s harsh, but come on, it’s time that this soap opera came to an end, it’s starting to mimic Desperate Housewives.
We all know by now that the Spice Girls have abandoned their world tour midway through, and most of us believe we know why: Forget the talk of family commitment, the old arguments resurfaced, and they needed to walk away before someone got killed.
Now, Geri Halliwell has seemed to put paid to any speculation that the girls could give it another go in the future by stating that the show in Toronto on February 26 will be their last ever.
Speaking to Billboard, Ginger said:
“It probably won’t happen again [touring]. I’m still absolutely blown away that we did more than one show. So right now I’m thinking this is it. This is the last time you will ever get to see this girl power, the five Spices on stage as one.”
So should we be disappointed or pleased?
When the reunion was first announced, I was actually really pleased, and thought the chance to see a great British pop group back together again would be fantastic.
Then the prices of the gig tickets in London were announced and I began to realise this wasn’t the thank you to fans that was being cited, and in fact the girls were just cashing in.
Then the comeback single was launched, and was dire. Add in the supermarket adverts, the miming on stage, and everything else that went with it, and I just had enough.
So now, it seems the Spice Girls are ending their careers for the second time, and hopefully for good. I stand by my first reaction… hoorah, good riddance to the lot of them.
