Take That Dismiss Robbie Williams Return
Rumours have been persisting for months about Robbie Williams returning to the Take That fold, and making the foursome, a five some again. Just last week, Robbie’s mum went on record to state her belief that he would join the group again, and that it was his wish to do so.
Unfortunately, it looks like this was news to Take That themselves, who have now seemingly ruled out the possibility of his return.
The group gave an interview to The Big Issue, and both Gary Barlow and Mark Owen seemed to mock the idea of Robbie ever joining them again for a tour or new releases.
Gary said:
“I think, when it comes down to it, he’s just not going to be in the band again. I just don’t think there’s a place for him now here.”
Mark meanwhile, said:
“We asked [Robbie to return], but he had other commitments - he had to walk his dog that day.”
Ooh, handbags at ten paces. This is a shame, and it seems to go against all the gossip and possible meetings that have been reported ever since Take That reformed.
Take That had maintained that the door would always be open for Robbie’s return, but for whatever reason, that situation looks like having changed.
My guess would be that they’ve spoken to him, and the response they received wasn’t quite what they expected, so they have decided to hit back with a bit of snarkiness.
Whatever the truth, Take That seem to be doing fine without him, and I’m sure once he gets over the failure of his last album, Robbie will get back on track too.
