The Police Split Up Again - Legendary British Band To Play Final Show Ever In New York
The Police reunited last summer after years of not playing together, or even being civil to one another. This was after they acrimoniously split in 1984 due to arguments. And now they’re doing it again - no not arguing (as far as we know) but splitting up for the second and final time.

They are currently on the last part of their huge reunion world tour, which has already seen them play in front of 2.5 million people over five continents. The majority of this final leg of the tour will take place across North America, with the occasional jaunt back across to Europe for festival appearances. And the States is where they have decided to play their final concert ever.
New York to be exact, which they have chosen as it was where they kicked off their first ever American tour in 1978, a full 30 years ago.
No date or location for the show has yet been announced, but the proceeds from the concert will be given to arts programming for the city’s public television stations.
The show was announced at a specially arranged press conference with New York mayor Michael Bloomberg where the band also donated $1 million to the tree planting programme that will see one million trees planted in the city by 2017.
Having missed out on last year’s huge British shows, and not having a ticket to any of this year’s festivals where the band are appearing, it looks like my final chance to see a band who I have loved since very young has now passed.
But the band will go down as one of the greats in British music, and this tour has given them and the fans a chance to say goodbye. Now all we need is Led Zeppelin to do the same… keep your fingers and toes crossed.
