The Upside & Downside Of Being A Member Of The Beatles - McCartney and Starr
Ah The Beatles, they were great weren’t they? Probably the best band in the world ever, and the inspiration for a ton of music which has come and gone since.
So you’d think life would be pretty sweet for the former members of the group, well Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr at least, seeing as the other two are dead and all.
But it seems only one of the two is happy to be a former Beatle right now, and with all the gossip swilling around at the moment, it’s probably not the one you think it is.
Paul McCartney recently spoke of the plans to release The Beatles back catalogue on iTunes and various other digital music services, telling Billboard:
“It’s all happening soon. The whole thing is primed, ready to go - there’s maybe one little sticking point left and I think it’s being cleared up as we speak so it shouldn’t be too long.”
The deal is expected to earn Paul McCartney up to $400 million, which will help him pay the divorce settlement Heather Mills is soon to be granted. So McCartney is proud of his association with The Beatles, and is still earning money off the back of it.
However, Ringo Starr has slightly different feelings on the matter, recently complaining that he is getting “fed up” of constantly being asked about his time in The Beatles. He said:
“Some days I’m just fed up with The Beatles. I think that when when I die, the message on my tombstone will be ‘Ex-Beatle’. Like I’ve done nothing else.”
But Ringo, you haven’t really, and what little you have done has been pretty average. Oh except for narrating Thomas the Tank Engine, you did a good job there.
I would give my right arm to have been in The Beatles, and to be honest, hearing Ringo talk down his time in what was a phenomenally successful British import just makes me like him even less than I already did. Pete Best was better anyway.

Yeah, Thomas the Tank Engine was good. :)
I can understand what Ringo means, I think. I imagine I’d get really sick of talking about the exact same thing to 99% of the people who take to me year after year after decade.

i dont undertand why he realy ddnt do much in his solo career. i mean act naturaly is the worst song, all though i likedhim better than pete best

Well i personally love Ringo. Not anyone could have done what he did with the beatles and Solo. He is amazing and i do kinda understand where hes coming from but on the other hand the beatles is possibly the best band ever and he should be honored to have so many people want to talk to him and he should be excited to tell people of his time as a “Bealte”! *I LOVE THE BEATLES* and RINGO STARR!!!!
